Ponchos aren’t just for rain anymore! A handful of designers featured on their fall/winter 2011 runway ponchos in a variety of styles and shapes. What’s great about ponchos is that they are so versatile. The longer length allows them to be worn as a top, jacket, and even as a dress. Poncho’s roots are native american, however there’s no need to take this look literally. Steer clear from traditional indian prints to keep this look fresh and modern. Not only are ponchos super comfy, their loose long shape elongates the torso and flatters most shapes. An important reminder: since ponchos add volume up top, make sure that your bottom half is body hugging in order to avoid looking all over boxy and bulky.

Here are a few poncho outfit ideas:

1) wear a poncho as a dress with cool tights and ankle boots.

2) wear a poncho with your favorite skinny jeans and a pair of hiker booties (an outdoorsy/chic look).

3) wear a poncho with printed leggings, ballet flats, and some stand out earrings.

I’m sure that a poncho will be my go-to-item as the weather gets colder. There’s a poncho out there for each unique personality and style. Here are some of my favorites…

1) zara 2) emilio pucci 3) chloe 4) vila 5) ella moss 6) anthropologie 7) APC 8) sandro 9) dorothy perkins

Life’s A Beach

, , , , ,

Sorry it has been a few days since I’ve posted. I was busy studying my ass off for an anatomy exam! After having spent four days straight in the library I’m planning on spending my weekend at the beach, soaking up the sun! I’m really feeling the one piece trend! Let’s face it, not every day do we feel like prancing around in a skimpy bikini. On days when you’re feeling a little more self conscious a one piece is a perfect option.

Here are some covetable one pieces that I’d love to try on! Just give me a wide brimmed straw hat, a pina colada, a magazine too and I’ll be in sun bathing heaven!

polka dot: Seaspray  green one shoulder: J.Crew  solid navy: Gideon Oberson   white halter with anchors: Azzollini   navy & yellow: DVF   zig zags: Missoni

Surprisingly one-pieces can also be super sexy. Check out Daphna (Israeli model and former Bachelorette on the Israeli Bachelor) modeling a bikini and a one piece. In my opinion the one-piece is more flattering and sexier!

1 Gingham Shirt, 2 Seasonal Looks

, , , ,

Here is an adorable gingham shirt that I’m craving from Anthropologie. It also comes in grey but in my opinion the green is so cheery and refreshing. What’s great about this shirt is that it transitions so well from summer to fall.

In the summer this shirt would look great with summer whites & brights.

In the fall this shirt would look great with autumnal tones and leathers.

I love door photography! There is something so interesting about the fascades and entrances to buildings. The two photos below I found particularly striking and inspired my outfits for this season as well as next season.

This door photo inspired my summer look

shoes: Topshop, fedora: Wetseal,  messenger bag: Mulberry Alexa Bag, shorts: AG Jeans, watch: Marc Jacobs.

This door photo inspired my fall look

necklace: Anthropologie, hat: ASOS, jacket: Michael Kors, boots: heart and soul (found on Piperlime), skirt: YSL

Say “I do” to Succulents

, , , , , , , ,

Though I got married over a year ago, I still love to look at wedding websites and follow up on trends. Unfortuantely here in Israel, wedding decor and floral arrangements are still quite traditional and brides don’t play much with color or texture. One trend that I’m dying to see catch on over here is succulents. Succulents refer to water retaining plants that adapt to arid soil conditions, AKA  cacti! Therefore succulents and Israel go hand in hand. The fact that they come in such a variety of sizes, colors, textures etc. makes them so eye catching when mixed together. Succulents are an affordable DIY (do it yourself) project for brides who are willing to get their hands a bit dirty. Find succulents in any garden center and experiment with the combinations. Go for a minimimalist look by using only succulents & candles. Another option is to pair succulents with flowers. By reducing the amount of flowers, you also reduce cost. Try using succulents as centerpieces and reception decor. Brides in the U.S. are even incorporating succulents into their bridal bouquets! Here’s some succculent inspiration from real weddings in the United States. What do you say Israel? Let’s give succulents a chance!

Here are some photos from my big day! We got married on June 9, 2010 at a gorgeous wedding garden called the Pine Club in the Carmel Forest, Haifa Israel. It was truly the night of my dreams!

Arresting Cuffs

Check out these gorgeous cuff bracelets. So they may cost an arm and a leg, but drooling with envy is free! A stand out cuff adds edge to an evening gown or cocktail dress and dresses up an afternoon outfit.

Gold cuffs and snake prints are particularly hot right now!

It’s important to note that cuffs are statement pieces and therefore should be your main piece of jewelry worn.top row (from left to right) 1. dannijo 2. roberto cavalli 3. michael kors 4. kara ross

Polka dots

Polka dots are back!! This 50’s – 60’s print is being reinterpreted and has taken a modern twist. Yesterday I walked into one of my favorite stores, Zara, and was wowed by the way they incorporated polka dots into their fall collection. From vibrant colored blazers to shoes, trousers, and blouses, polka dots can easily be incorporated into anyone’s fall wardrobe. In my opinion they are a must have this season!

Here are a few of my favorite dotty looks from Zara:

Have a Loungely Day

, , , ,

I’m loving this vintage pajama pic! This is a far cry from my bedtime get-up. I usually steal my husband’s favorite pajama bottoms that he bought at Walmart for like 9.99, with a Nascar driver’s name on them! OY VEY! Along with my race car driver oversized bottoms I throw a non-matching faded t-shirt. I’ve decided enough is enough. No more looking like a bum while getting my beauty sleep.

I came across this adorabe vintage PJ set on JCrew’s website. They really reflect the vintage pic, don’t you think?Today, I’m staying in and lounging. I don’t feel like getting dressed but staying in my pajamas makes me feel like a complete slob. Some cute loungewear like seen here is comfortable, effortless, & beautiful.

Which piece is your favorite?1. cropped top with lace (Topshop) 2. antique rose 100% silk pajama pants (from Shanghai) 3. Kimono top (Zara) 4. headband (H&M) 5. flowy tank by Pilcro (Anthropologie) 6. lavender scented candles (SABON – Israeli Soap Company)

Bye-bye bed head! Headbands are the perfect messy hair fixer upper.

Billie JEANS

Here it is, my first entry as a new blogger! Growing up as a kid I was a major tom-boy and all I wanted to do was dress in my younger brother’s clothes. I would get up in the morning before school and choose a baseball tee out of his drawer. Today, it’s a different story. Waking up in the morning presents the exciting question of “What to wear?” I love fashion and am always being inspired by what I see. Everywhere I go I pay attention to what people are wearing, how their hair is done, what colors flatter and which don’t. Fashion is on my mind 24/7. So with my new passion and ideas, I thought to share with you and see where it takes me!

I decided to write my first entry about something that all of us love and need…JEANS! Jeans are an essential staple in a girl’s wardrobe! However, fit, wash, and length are so crucial to get right (and so many do not). The best way to find the perfect jean is try on a ton!!! Make sure the fit is appropriate to your body shape. Finally, a dark wash is always more slimming than a light one.

Here’s a quick look back at our nations history with denim.

This fall skinnies are moving aside and making way for 70’s inspired flares and wide-leg cuts! Flares are versatile and tailored, not to mention a hell of a lot more comfortable than those skin-tight skinny jeans.

Here are some familiar faces that have been strutting around in flared denim. But my hat goes off to Jayma Mays who got her flared denim spot on!!! This girl looks so effortless and chic. Her legs for on for miles due to the high rise waist and the bottom length which just skims shy of the ground.
