Ponchos aren’t just for rain anymore! A handful of designers featured on their fall/winter 2011 runway ponchos in a variety of styles and shapes. What’s great about ponchos is that they are so versatile. The longer length allows them to be worn as a top, jacket, and even as a dress. Poncho’s roots are native american, however there’s no need to take this look literally. Steer clear from traditional indian prints to keep this look fresh and modern. Not only are ponchos super comfy, their loose long shape elongates the torso and flatters most shapes. An important reminder: since ponchos add volume up top, make sure that your bottom half is body hugging in order to avoid looking all over boxy and bulky.

Here are a few poncho outfit ideas:

1) wear a poncho as a dress with cool tights and ankle boots.

2) wear a poncho with your favorite skinny jeans and a pair of hiker booties (an outdoorsy/chic look).

3) wear a poncho with printed leggings, ballet flats, and some stand out earrings.

I’m sure that a poncho will be my go-to-item as the weather gets colder. There’s a poncho out there for each unique personality and style. Here are some of my favorites…

1) zara 2) emilio pucci 3) chloe 4) vila 5) ella moss 6) anthropologie 7) APC 8) sandro 9) dorothy perkins
